Why cloud detectors are a problem for evidence
Sending case footage or customer media to a third-party service creates a handling, privacy and disclosure risk. Some agencies are barred from doing it at all. An on-premise tool keeps originals, results and logs inside the organisation.

What offline operation requires
The platform must work without model downloads, licence servers or telemetry. Classical forensic sensors suit this well because they are deterministic software, not hosted models. Updates arrive as signed packages that are installed by your own administrators.

Custody and audit still apply
Offline does not mean unrecorded. Originals are hashed and sealed on intake, every action is appended to a tamper-evident log, and reports list the inputs, versions and parameters needed to reproduce a result.

Optional model adapters
Some customers later add approved AI models as extra evidence. In SpearTrace these sit behind an optional adapter layer, so the platform remains fully functional without them.
Quick answers
Does SpearTrace need internet access?
No. The analysis platform runs fully offline once installed, and optional adapters are separate.
Who needs an air-gapped deployment?
Law enforcement, government and election bodies, defence-adjacent teams and regulated financial institutions that cannot send media to external services.
